Twice a year, the Tzu Chi Education Foundation cooperates with the Walnut City Environmental Protection Bureau to distribute organic soil to the public. Volunteers take this opportunity to promote vegetarianism and encourage people to be healthier with less meat and more vegetables.

Tzu Chi Education Foundation designed a unique Compassionate Vegetarian Plan around the theme of “friends not animals” for the 2023 “Great Kindness Challenge” to promote vegetarianism with tens of millions of teachers and students in more than 30,000 schools around the world.

The Tzu Chi Education Foundation invited 9,517 teachers and students from 38 Tzu Chi schools in eight countries to participate in the Great Kindness Challenge to promote compassionate vegetarianism.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award Ceremony was held on December 3rd at the Tzu Chi Walnut Campus-Life Science Garden in Los Angeles. The awards were presented to volunteers who are dedicated to serving the community and the environment.

Tzu Chi Great Love Preschools in California teach children compassion and good intentions through a toy donation drive for underprivileged children held in collaboration with the local fire department.

On October 28, 2022, a special Halloween event, “Environmental Protection and No Tricks,” was held at Tzu Chi Elementary School, Great Love Preschool Walnut, and Great Love Preschool Monrovia. The students, teachers, and parents participated in the fun and educational holiday event.
